LNWR Cauliflower Express Goods Locomotive - model in 7mm scale (O Gauge) by David L O Smith

A 7mm scale (O Gauge) model of a London North Western Railway 18" Express Goods locomotive, commonly known as a 'Crested Goods' or a Cauliflower' due to the LNWR crest on the middle splashers.  The prototypes were built in batches from 1880 and the last survivor was broken up in 1955.  The model was built using some of the parts from an erstwhile Modellers World kit that I was fortunate to acquire with many replacement castings;  I scratch built additions and modifications, such as sprung buffers and 'working' Joy valve gear. The locomotive and tender are fully sprung and electrical pickups were added to the tender wheels to improve current collection.  The model has AJH driving wheels and is powered by a Portescap RG7 motor.  A Badger airbrush and a lining pen were used to apply the paint and the lining with Humbrol colours, followed by a coat Floquil flat finish.
